Research content

Until now, we focused on land use type for agriculture, we focused and analysis on substance transport phenomena of crops individual, to improve cultivation technology and optimizing cultivation environment.
○Concerning rice plants, the purpose is to develop less nitrogen application type of rice varieties to reduce environment load, we also examined various differences in dry matter production and photosynthetic capacity of paddy rice when the nitrogen application conditions were reduced. Although dry matter production decreased under nitrogen saving conditions, in the cultivars in which superior dry matter accumulation in the panicle was recognized, the increase in dry matter after heading was remarkable. The increase of dry matter after heading is closely related to photosynthetic capacity, therefore we evaluated the details by analyzing energy balance in photochemical system and carbon dioxide fixing system constituting photosynthetic system. As a result, in the varieties with vigorous dry matter production after heading, it was revealed that they are excellent in the light inhibition avoidance or relaxation function, because the proportion of energy share to heat dissipation was large.

We also carried out quantitative evaluation of water balance and carbon balance of harvested organs in order to obtain basic information for optimizing the cultivation environment for production quantity and quality improvement of organs (grains, potatoes, fruits etc.) to be harvested. In addition, by applying Heat-ring treatment to evaluate substance accumulation over the transportation route (phloem and wood parts), and using the 13C tracer, it is possible to analyze a relation between the growth environment and substance accumulation at the growth stage and the survey span and analyzed in detail.
○Dry matter production of resource crops, relation between photosynthetic capacity and growth environment have been analyzed.
