Research content

・We evaluate the genetic diversity and differentiation degree of each aquatic organism group by highly sensitive DNA markers, detect conservation unit of the aquatic organism, and performs resource management.

・During breeding of aquatic fishes and shellfish cultivation, because it is important to effectively select individuals with useful traits such as highly growth and highly disease resistance, in a short period of time, so we conduct parent-child identification using highly sensitive DNA markers, select and control parent individuals with useful traits, develop polymorphic DNA markers linked to functional genes, and select individuals with useful traits

・The seedling production and discharged of marine fishes and shellfishes are carried out in various places, but to estimate the discharge effect, since it is necessary to identify between discharge individuals and conventional individuals, we evaluate the discharge effect by conducting parent-child identification with a high-sensitivity DNA marker, and evaluate the discharge effect by specifying the discharged fish.

・To evaluate not only population but also genetic diversity in term of conservation of rare aquatic organisms, it is necessary to detect genetic diversity and differentiation degree of each population by using highly sensitive DNA markers to detect conservation units, and to perform conservation management of aquatic organisms.

・Concerning river organisms, river artificial structures such as dams in which dams inhibit free movement within the river and there is a possibility occurring a group division, so we evaluate the influence of river artificial structures on the genetic diversity and differentiation degree of each group by highly sensitive DNA markers, and perform conservation management of river organisms.
